The Cerberus Strength Dual-Ply Sandbag is a versatile and durable training tool that’s designed to withstand the toughest workouts. Whether you’re a strongman competitor, Hybrid athlete, or just someone looking to add functional strength training to your routine, this sandbag delivers exceptional performance. To ensure optimal use and longevity of your sandbag, it’s important to fill it correctly. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you fill your Dual-Ply Sandbag the right way.

What You Need

To fill your Dual-Ply Sandbag, you will need the following materials:

  • Dual-Ply Sandbag (available in multiple sizes from 45kg to a massive 180kg, depending on your needs)
  • Filling Material: coarse/ builders sand is the best choice and what the bag has been design and sized to come in to the correct at its stated weight, but alternatives like pea gravel, rubber pellets, or a mix of sand and fabric scraps can also be used.
  • Scale: To measure the weight of the filling if not bought in pre measured bags.

Step 1: Select the Right Filling Material

The choice of filling material will depend on your preference and training goals:

  • Sand: Affordable and widely available, sand provides a dense and challenging weight. Use dry sand to prevent moisture damage and leaks.
  • Pea Gravel: Offers a slightly different feel and has a bigger volume changing the weight of the bag.
  • Rubber Pellets: A lighter option, great for beginners or dynamic movements.

Although these bags are sizes to specific, weight the loadable weight of the bag depends on the density and size of the media being used.

Step 2: Weigh Your Filling Material

To ensure your sandbag is filled to the desired weight:

  1. Place your empty sandbag on a scale to note its baseline weight.
  2. Measure out your filling material in increments, weighing as you go. The maximum weight capacity is listed for each size of the Dual-Ply Sandbag:
  3. Avoid overfilling the sandbag to maintain its flexibility and durability.

Step 3: Fill the Dual-Ply Sandbag

  1. Open the sandbag by unzipping the heavy-duty closure.
  2. Insert the prepared filling material directly into the sandbag. If you’re not using a contractor bag, pour the sand or other material carefully into the sandbag itself.
  3. Shake the sandbag periodically to distribute the filling evenly. This ensures the bag retains its shape and functionality. If you are using coarse/builders sand fill your Sandbag until your bag is full and packed tight.

Step 4: Secure the Closure

The Dual-Ply Sandbag is designed with a strong, secure closure to prevent leaks:

  1. Once filled, Seal the inner bag Velcro, roll down and press down and seal again against the inner Velcro.
  2. Push the inner seal inside, shut the zip and close over the external double Velcro straps.
  3. Check for any gaps or leaks and adjust as needed.

Step 5: Test and Adjust

Before using your sandbag in training:

  1. Perform a few test lifts, carries to ensure the weight is evenly distributed.
  2. If the bag feels uneven or too loose, adjust the filling by redistributing the material or adding more.

Pro Tips for Longevity

  • Keep It Dry: Store your sandbag in a dry location to prevent moisture build-up and mildew.
  • Don’t Overfill: Overfilling can strain the seams and reduce the lifespan of your bag.
  • Regular Checks: Periodically inspect the zippers, seams, and filling material for wear and tear.
